Alex Heaton represents a wide variety of developers, investors, and financial institutions with the primary focus of his practice to date in the hospitality sector, the industrial sector, the governmental sector, utility-scale renewable energy development, and in the representation of specialty lenders for bridge and construction lending. Clients seek his advice and counsel in connection with developing operating and investment strategies that harmonize business objectives with legal structures. He has been involved in over a billion dollars of hotel-related transactions, with extensive experience in construction of new developments, distressed debt opportunities, EB-5 investments, opportunity zone investments, acquisition and disposition of operating assets, and the negotiating of entitlements and other development rights.
Alex has worked for a full-service law firm in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, another AmLaw 200 firm based out of Denver, Colorado, and has prior work experience in London, England and Dalian, Liaoning, China. Alex is a graduate from both the Urban Land Institute Atlanta District Council Center for Leadership and Leadership Jackson Hole (Wyoming). In furtherance of ULI’s mission, he was the Project Manager for a Technical Assistance Panel for long-term development surrounding the Fulton County Executive Airport and authored & coordinated technical studies in the southeast focused on the Savannah Civic Center Redevelopment and the 10-Minute Walk Campaign promoting pedestrian & park accessibility in Atlanta and nationwide. He has achieved pro bono distinction in each year of his legal practice.
Alex primarily lives and works in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Hobbies include, but are not limited to, powder skiing and developing a formidable reputation with the local cutthroat trout community.
