Brett Lavoie is a practical, results-driven attorney representing owners, operators, developers, and investors on a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, focusing on acquiring, disposing of, developing, and financing hotel, office, industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use properties. Brett has extensive experience advising developers and investors alike in structuring and executing development and financing strategies for new construction projects, including negotiating joint ventures, debt and equity financing arrangements, and various development-related agreements with adjacent landowners and government authorities. He regularly works with borrowers and lenders to resolve complex loan issues, including loan modifications and other workout strategies, note acquisitions and sales, and senior loan facilities. Brett also represents landlords in the leasing of office, industrial, and retail properties, including ground leases and build-to-suit leases.
As a native of Salem, Massachusetts, Brett inherited an affinity for witches and a life-long passion for the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. He is also an avid reader of history and (after discovering his inner geek while reading A Game of Thrones in 2011) stories involving swords, dragons, and magic. Brett and his wife, Alexa, live in Cabbagetown and spend much of their free time hanging out with their neighborhood friends, walking the beltline, or doting on their very cute (and very bad) dog.
